About

A Home Built Around Safety, Dignity, and Belonging

Lelyla House is being developed as a Small Family Home where children can experience the safety, consistency, dignity, and individualized support that allow them to grow with confidence.

Our purpose is to combine the warmth of family-centered care with the professional systems, documentation, coordination, and accountability expected of a high-quality residential program.

Mission

To provide a safe, stable, and nurturing home in which every child’s needs, strengths, personal rights, cultural identity, relationships, and future possibilities are respected.

Vision

We envision a home where children experience belonging, consistency, meaningful participation, and the individualized support needed to develop confidence and greater independence.

Purpose

To create a responsive home environment supported by strong policies, prepared caregivers, coordinated services, transparent documentation, and an unwavering commitment to each child’s dignity.

Our Approach

The Child Comes Before the File

Children are more than diagnoses, behaviors, placement histories, or service needs. Lelyla House begins by learning who each child is, what matters to them, how they communicate, what helps them feel safe, and what support allows them to succeed.

  1. 01

    Listen to the Child

Children should be heard, included in decisions, and supported in expressing their needs, preferences, concerns, identity, and goals.

  2. 02

    Understand the Whole Person

Support begins with a complete understanding of the child’s strengths, relationships, communication, health, culture, experiences, abilities, and individualized needs.

  3. 03

    Develop Individualized Support

Care is guided by applicable placement plans, Individual Program Plans, case plans, Needs and Services Plans, medical information, personal preferences, and authorized services.

  4. 04

    Coordinate the Team

Consistent communication with authorized representatives, families, social workers, regional-center teams, educators, healthcare providers, and advocates supports continuity and accountability.

  5. 05

    Review and Adjust

Plans and supports should evolve as the child’s needs, strengths, preferences, experiences, and goals change.

Professional Standards

Professional Standards Behind a Family-Centered Home

Warmth and compassion must be supported by strong systems. Lelyla House is being developed with detailed operating policies, controlled forms, documentation standards, emergency procedures, staff guidance, and quality-assurance practices designed to promote safety, consistency, transparency, and regulatory accountability.

  • Individualized Care

Support is shaped around the child rather than requiring the child to fit a standardized routine.

  • Trauma-Informed Support

Behavior is understood as communication. Prevention, connection, co-regulation, de-escalation, and skill development guide the response.

  • Rights and Dignity

Privacy, identity, communication, visitation, advocacy access, personal choice, and participation in decisions are treated as essential rights.

  • Health and Safety

Structured procedures support medication oversight, appointments, emergency readiness, transportation, nutrition, supervision, and continuity of care.

  • Family and Team Partnership

Effective care depends on respectful collaboration with children, families, authorized representatives, professionals, and community partners.

  • Stability and Growth

The home will support education, community participation, recreation, healthy relationships, personal development, and developmentally appropriate independence.

Who We Serve

Individualized Consideration for Every Child

Lelyla House is being developed as a Small Family Home with a planned capacity of up to four ambulatory children, from birth through age 17.

Future admission decisions will be based on a comprehensive review of each child’s needs, compatibility, safety considerations, required services, authorized supports, and Lelyla House’s licensed program capacity.

Disability-related behavior, communication differences, gender identity, cultural background, or a history of trauma will not automatically disqualify a child from individualized consideration.

Leadership

Experienced Leadership. Purposeful Program Design.

Lelyla House is guided by experienced leadership with backgrounds spanning organizational development, community engagement, social work, child and family services, education, trauma-informed practice, behavioral health, crisis response, healthcare coordination, staff development, and program accountability.

This combined experience informs the home’s policies, staff preparation, safety procedures, family engagement, documentation practices, care coordination, and commitment to each child’s dignity and personal rights.
